Patient Service Representative-Portland, OR

Summary: This position is responsible for setting-up patients, in the hospital, clinic or home, with the appropriate durable medical equipment, picking up the equipment when patient is done and cleaning, disinfecting, and maintaining the equipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Delivering, setting-up and/or removing equipment at customer locations; which may include the patient’s home, hospital, physical therapy office, physician’s office, nursing home, etc.
Instructing the patient and/or the patient’s family on the use of the equipment per Company and physician guidelines.
Obtain patient demographic and insurance information for billing.
Obtain patient signatures on patient agreements, insurance waivers, payment terms, the assignment of benefits card, and other applicable forms.
Trouble-shooting equipment and diagnosing problems.
Assisting with equipment inventory reporting and equipment tracking.
Performing preventive equipment maintenance and the cleaning and shipping of equipment as required.
Supervisory Responsibilities: There are no supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications Ability to move and lift up to 50 pounds.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently.
Must be PC literate.
Valid Driver’s License.
Knowledge of third party reimbursement.
Knowledge of orthopedic therapeutic devices.
Education and/or Experience 1 – 2 years of healthcare industry experience in a customer service or support capacity.
B.A. or B.S. in related healthcare field is preferred.
